Seing a new Neurologist on Moday...advice

Unfortunately my insurance does not cover the BPI Specialist in Pittsburg so I had to find a dr. in my network that did. Of course there are no specific specialists so I had to choose a neurologist who knows about OBPI. I called around and asked and found one who said he could treat me. I'm a bit leary as I've heard this before and I know that OBPI covers so much more than just neuro injury. I'm not sure he can treat the whole problem. But I have to try nonetheless. My question is what do I ask at my appointment and are there any tips you can give me to make the most of this appointment?
Thanks.

Christina,
You probably want to know what is the extent of your injury. Unlike the kids born today, those of us with this as adults most likely were never told the extent of our injury. So ask him which nerves were injured and if he can detemine how (stretch, tear, rupture or avulsion).
Ask him what long term side effects he has seen with this injury. (That will give you a clue about how many he has treated).
I know you are experiencing pain, so find out what he recommends for pain treatment.
Get a script for PT/OT or water therapy.
Those are some basics off the top of my head.
Oh and have him write a script for you to get your handicap pass for your car (not sure what is required in PA, in Ohio, this is what is needed). Ohio recognizes the term "Erb's Palsy" as a qualifier. For some reason that term seems to work best even though brachial plexus injury is more inclusive.
