kd's daddy...
Ummm... I don't believe *you* have TBPI, or even any BPI??
For someone who isn't even personally injured, you really have no business criticizing members of *this* community.
Have some respect!!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.
Re: Herro!
Hey Ryan, welcome aboard! Nice to see you've already got to the stage of laughing at yourself-that's the key to recovery! This seperate tbpi message board was started so that the side of us tbpi that others find hard to take, but that has to come out somewhere (the sick humour, the seemingly self destructive behaviour, the pain and the deep depression sometimes-we have all been there...) can be expressed seperate from the general board. It's called the general board but really it's mostly parents whose children have birth related injuries who post there, most tbpi wouldn't have seen your original post.
I too would love to know why you're grrgrr at us!
Things can be fairly quiet around here but every now and then people liven up, there's also the UK tbpi site which is somewhat relaxed in attitude, there's a website www.tbpi-group.org and a messageboard http://pub28.ezboard.com/badultswithbra ... usinjuries many of the posters there are still into biking and various other life threatening activities, check it out. We all got our injuries in nasty violent ways and most of us are dam kucky to be alive at all-it does change your take on life a bit, eh?
Cheers

Re: Herro!
Ohh, that was a monkey noise i use to get attention....as i am weird. my accident was like on 18th of october of 2003. i was racing a crotch rocket (stunting) on the 5 south; going towards san diego from oceanside. i had been doing a wheelie at 80mph and ran out of gas. the front end violently slammed down with the front wheel landing to the left (not straight). hell broke out and i went into a tank slapper. Im this type of a situation, similar to when the rear of a car comes out, the only way to get out of it is by acceleration. i accelerated. from fear or from god knows what, i passed out, the next day i woke up in the hospital. my injuries included road rash, broken ribs, punctured lung, some broken off fingers, and elbow injury. considering what could have happened...i am in one peice and a genius (smart ass).
p.s. it's a brachial plexus nerve avulsion. all nerves were torn out. they aren't replaceable nor do i care to have them replaced. this makes me me. regaurdless of what has happened to me, if a person doesn't like me it's not because of my arm. i really would kick someones ass though if it was because of me being DaGimp(wears my sling?). anyways i have injured myself and need to accept myself as the new person it has made me. love hate death or success? i have now chosen love from this comes success...success doesn't bring love. it can't.
