Hi everyone,

It has been such a while since we have posted on this site, but we still visit quite regularly.

Michael is doing so well, we are very proud of him and what he has achieved within the last 12 months. It is now 20 months since the accident and 14 months since nerve transplant.

He has achieved so much this year it is a credit to him.

He has nearly finished one year of his real estate course and am pleased to say has achieved distinguished marks in each subject. Has topped the grade in assignment marks and should eventually finish the year within the top two in the grade. We are so proud with the effort he has made. His writing is amazing now. Who said you can't learn to write left handed after being right handed all your life.

As for progress with the injury, his is doing excellent. Has full movement of the shoulder now and with continual hydro therapy and phsio is now able to bend his arm in water. Still working on building up the bicep to be able to bend the elbow out of the water but it is getting there. It was so wonderful to hear Michael say the other day that his arm is starting to feel somewhat "normal" again.

The pain is still the biggest hurdle for Michael, yes it never goes away, still on medication, but he is hoping with time he will be able to get off the meds all together. It is hard and he still as this stage needs them. Have to admit though they are not disadvantaging him in any way at the moment.

We hope that everyone is keeping well. For your Liz we recently went away for a couple of weeks for a family holiday. Did plenty of fishing and Michael caught some amazing "flathead". I will post some photos on the site for you. He did everything himself other than bait up. You would have been very proud Liz.

For you Ellen, how is your son going. The first time I saw Michael bend his elbow in the water I thought of your son...... at least I think it was your son who did this......

For everyone else on the site a big "hello" from us in Australia. Take care all we will post again soon.

Best wishes Michael and Narelle

Hey - yes, it was John who first bent his arm while in someone's swimming pool... and then, I'm sure, was completely embarrassed because the rest of us freaked out over it. Just to see him move his arm, after so many months of being completely paralyzed, really got to us. And of course he's come such a long way since that in terms of strength & movement.

Congratulations on making such progress - and in so many areas as well (physical, emotional, social, etc.) Please keep us posted!

Take care,

Ellen
