Hello, My son 25 yrs old had a motorcycle accident 9-3-05. I thank God everyday that he is alive. He has no movement in his left arm and left peck muscle. He can move his shoulder up and down. But not forward or back. He does not have much feeling in the arm. And when you touch it, it sends a sharp pain. There has not been alot of relief from his pain. We live in Illinois. We Doctor in Springfield. But they are not giving us any answers. I have learned more on this message board then they have told us. We have an appointment with Dr. Susan Mackinnon in St Louis. Does anyone know about her? Can you tell me of anywhere else we can go for help? He is a great musican on stringed instruments. And it is killing him that he might not be able to play again! If you can give me any questions i need to askwhen we go to St. Louis i would appreciete it Thanks Jennifer

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I live in ILtoo, I had a motorcycle accident w/ my boyfriend back in 87'. We started at Rockford and they refered us to Mayo Clinic in MN. Where in IL are you? We are up North, 50 miles N of Chicago. I wouldn't not go anywhere else, Mayo is the place. I have been going and still going since 1987, 23 plus trips there. My team of doctors have changed over the yrs. I had the best doctor Mayo had, Dr Wood. Who later became the CEO of Mayo Clinic. He is retired but the new team is just as wonderful.

Hi Jennifer, I'm sorry to hear about your son. My son was injured in a car accident six years ago and we started out in Spfld also. We live 50 miles south of Spfld near Carlinville. We went to Dr. Mackinnon a time or two, I can't really remember but it seems like she referred us to someone else but that didn't pan out either. He too has no use of his left arm but doesn't suffer any pain. Does your son have a lot of pain? It would be nice to talk to you......

Hi Jennifer,
I was studying to be a concert pianist when my injury occured. I'm not really able to play anymore, I tinker around and that's about it. It was very devastating at first, but I'm glad to be alive and that's how I look at it. The best thing your son can do is try to stay positive.
