I was wondering if this happened to any one else's child -
Matthew woke up this morning and his entire palm was blue. I was at work and my mom didn't tell me until we were having dinner tonight which really peeved me off, but anyway she rubbed his palm and it got better. We're thinking maybe he slept on his hand while his hand was close fisted or something like that.
I have him his pronator strap on loose tonight to keep his hand open while he sleeps. We see Dr. Kozin in 2 weeks so I will ask him then but I was just wondering if anyone here went through that and what the cause was, if it happened again, and what type of treatment you did for it.
Thanks.
Cindy

Cindy, was he wearing his splint last night when this happened? How scarey and strange. Did he complain about his hand to your mom in the morning too or was it just a change of appearance that made her notice the hand? Good luck and let us know what Dr. Kozin thinks too.

Shannon,
No he wasn't wearing his strap the night it happened. I put it on last night to keep his hand open and his hand was fine this morning. I had left for work when he was sleeping but when my mom noticed it in the morning he told her not to worry about it that it was just marker on his hand.
I'll keep you posted.

Sorry to hear about this, it could possibly be a circulation problem or maybe from a fall.
Hope someone else has some information for you.

Maybe email Dr. Kozin and see what he thinks. I know that somtimes I sleep on my hand and it is usually in a fist because that is more comfortable, but my hand has never turned blue before. If it gets to cold it look kinda purple, but never blue from sleeping.
Good luck, I hope it was nothing much.

In an instance like this, I would have called the pediatrician right away if I could not get thru
to the bip doctor.
