She Scored!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by CW1992 »

Hey all,
Just some happy news! Brittney scored on game two of her tournament today!!!!!!! We still lost both games today and head back in the morning - but she did it!:) I about ran out on the field to hug her!:) Her team has not been scoring in the past two years - but today she actually tripped trying to get to the ball and knocked over the goalie but her foot somehow put it in the goal!! Sometimes 'balance issues' work in your favor!!:) On the way home it was funny because when we asked her how it felt to finally score one - she said, "I always pictured it being different' - LOL - then she laughed because she had tripped to score and had been imagining the hard kick in. Wish us luck tomorrow please. (She has scored many in the past years, just not in the last two on this new team). I just thought I'd share because I am so proud of her.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Way to go, Brittney! I think it's so cool that you scored the way you did b/c that's a part of you. How boring of a memory would it have been to do it "the typical" way?! Keep up the great job with those soccer legs! BTW, are you and your Mom / family going to be able to attend camp? I'd love to meet you and your family! ~Tina
