Hello everyone. I thought I might post and share the progress Kaylee has had. It took a while to decide whether we wanted her to see a chiropractor. We heard alot of good things and bad things. Most docs said they would not do it. We were referred by another bpi mom to a good chiropractor. He uses a very gentle method. No bone cracking, twisting or manipulating. It is called precise controlled force. I think the method was developed by a Dr. Toftnas. I tried it first and it was very gentle. He uses his finger or a small tool to apply pressure at the point needing adjusting. Kaylee is 21 months old and had the primary surgery a year ago. She had been recommended for the mod quad and we were interested in trying other methods in order to avoid a second surgery. She started getting adjusted on 11/13/01. At therapy we measured her range, which was as follows: shoulder/140 deg., external rotation/70 deg., elbow flexion/95 deg., supination/40 deg., and wrist extention/40 deg. As of 1/23/02 her new measurements are: shoulder/140 deg., external rotation/80 deg., elbow flexion/128 deg., supination/70 deg., and wrist extention/45 deg. Her two biggest gains were supination and elbow flexion. I think the adjustments help put her in a better position for the therapy to do it's job. They each compliment each other and one would not work the same without the other. We are so pleased with her progress and hope it is enough to avoid surgery. I want to thank all on this board who shared their experiences. Without it we would not even have known that chiropractic adjustments were even an option.

Glad to hear that Kaylee is doing well. We've just started chiropractic/reikki energy and hope Matthew benefits as well.
