Sandi,
Have you had any surgeries to try and return function? If yes, you may be experiencing pain in the ribs due to an intercostal nerve transfer, and most likely to your biceps. If no, just ignore everything I'm saying and see you Dr. The reinnervated muscles have to borrow nerves from somewhere and where ever the source of those nerves are from is where you will possibly experience pain or other 'strange' sensations when that muscle is worked out, pinched, slapped etc.

I've got for intercostal nerves (nerves that feed the muscles in between the ribs) innervating my biceps and a transfered muscle into the biceps area. When I've over worked my biceps, like trying to paddle a canoe all day, I'll get harsh and strange pain that feels like it's coming from my ribs that will last for days, much like going to the gym for the first time in months, years, life times. But that pain isn't actually coming from my ribs at all, thru the magic of science that's just my brain's inability to remap itself to my new body to where things have been rearranged to.

Half of my healthy arms C7 nerve was transfered across my neck to my injured arm's shoulder to reinnervate my deltoid. Now when one of my many mindless friends slaps my shoulder to say hello, goodbye, good job, bad job, funny joke, stupid joke, etc., etc. my good arm & hand get zapped like someone shoved my nerves in an electrical socket. I half to laugh at it, because I don't let anyone in on it. I don't want them to feel bad, and I want to be exactly who I used to be & treated that way, not like some precious flower that must be handle w/delicate care.

Okay, what was your question again, africa is just south of spain and italy. It's 9am and I haven't slept yet. One of my brilliant ways of dealing with my pain is to stare at the computer and purge my brain for hours on end, nonstop of course. I'm counting on no one reading this anyway, so farewell and good morning...
