Squeaky wheel gets the grease

Well--After all the B.S. I've been thru for 11+ years looks like I'm going to see "The Man"--Dr. Belzberg. Somehow thru 2nd and 3rd parties I think the Doc thought I was slammin' him or something and called some folks who I've been trying to get to cut the red tape for me....anyway, I got an appt. 10/3--flying to Balt. the 2nd. So far everything is going smoothly. I had a couple local Dr.s tell me "the sqeaky wheel gets the grease" and it was up to me to get treatment because no-body else can do it for you. Looks like they were right. My mistake was going to different agencies, Dr.s, what ever, and then waiting for somebody to do some thing.Ain't NO-BODY gonna DO NOTHIN' for a poor-a*s $394-a-month disability case and THEY DO NOT TAKE FOOD STAMPS.--------Anyway, I'm in with the MAN who knows what the deal is, so I won't have to spend the first 20 minutes of my appt. explaining to him what TBPI is and why my amputation was elective etc. etc. I'm so happy I could vomit. Everything I've heard about Dr. B. leads me to believe that finally, after 12 years of unrelenting hell, I'm finally going to see a Dr. who has some answers and options. Appropriate medication would be a fabulous start. This will be a L-O-N-G 2 weeks.
Cautiosly optimistic---Ronin

Hey well done mate...at last it looks like you are getting somewhere!

I met Dr B at the Italy thing and he seems like a right nice sincere sort of bloke. At the very least, as you say, you won't have to explain this injury to him...he knows about all there is to know about TBPI and the bluddy 'P' word...good luck to ya mate...I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes from across the pond...Liz b :0)

He is a very caring doctor. He does not pull punches and calls a spade a spade. He even answered questions that adult/obpi could not get answers too and acknowledged the fact that we experience pain... he is an expert on bpi ... so many doctors are not educated about bpi and they just can't help any of us.
Glad you are going to see him and he will help with the "P" word... good Luck
Kath M (adult/obpi)

I'm so happy for you! I know you've had a hard time and any progress is good news. Dr. B is a great and caring man and will help you as much as he can. And you're right, no one will get you further in life than yourself. Good luck and stay strong!
