I got Alexyss into aqua therapy and I love it! So does she. Only one problem is that my insurance won't cover it 100% because it is not in network. I got told that if something is not covered by insurance there is a program to get the insurance to cover it 100%. Does anyone know about this? I highly recommend aqua therapy because it is a break from ground therapy and doesn't hurt as bad!

Well what I'd like to add to this conversation is that even if your insurance doesn't cover aquatic therapy - take your child to the pool as often as possible anyway.

Maia sees these elderly folks doing exercises with kickboards and barbells and kicking and wall walking and she just wants to follow them all! I think by the time this year is up she'll have adopted at least a dozen new grandparents.

You know - if you are in the pool and holding on to a kickboard it's an automatic 90 degree stretch...how's that for therapy without even knowing it?

I want to come up with a list of stuff to do in the water like the awareness document "Stretching the Limits" so.... if all of you working in the pool can submit every thing you are doing in the water - that would be much appreciated. I can even print it up with stick figures so that we can each laminate it and bring it to the pool as a good list to look at for ideas.

Blake never did well having formal aquatic therapy, so we just took him to our warm water pool at Easter Seals a couple of nights a week. They had a parent tot time that cost $4 for the two of us and family night on Fridays. It helped us and we just utilized his OT on land more and looked forward to swim night. Now, our fitness center has a warm water therapy pool so we are looking forward to major time in the pool after his caps splint comes off. Does your therapy place offer open swim times?
