Hi, my name is Shaun. I am 32 year old and I have been living with TBPI for more than a year.The road has been tough and hard. The hardest of all has been to accept the fact that I will never use my left arm again. I was involved in a motorcycle accident on the 17th of April 2005.A weekend wich was supposed to be fun spent with friend turned into a life changing event. I have lost use of my left arm from the shoulder down. My Dr and I hope for enough improvement to have a free musle transplant. But that is in the far far future!! RECOVERY IS SLOW AND UNSURTAIN.We dont have the support in South Africa as you have out there. In the mean while Myself, my wife and two beautiful children work hard to adapt to the loss. My son, Ryan, almost 28, was in a motorcycle accident 5 1/2 yrs ago and he also doesn't have any use of his left arm etc.

It is a long haul, and everyday is a challenge. He had to learn how to do everything with just one arm and hand which he has done. As I have said before the only thing he can't seem to do is put his own hair up in a ponytail.

The only surgery he has had was a nerve transplant, this help a whole lot with pain. He still has pain and some day are worst then others.

You have come to a great site, lots of support and answers to questions you may have. Just ask away.
