Insurance and therapy
Have any of you had trouble getting your post surgery therapy covered by your insurance company? We went to the O.T. today and got the splint raised 5 degrees. In getting the authorization for this I was told to go back to the treating physician or her 62 days of therapy after surgery coverage would start today with the O.T. visit. Well we all know it will take more than 62 days of therapy and we can't start for at least 4 weeks. I told them they were crazy and to get me a case manager. Then I faxed the protocol that Dr. Nath sent home with us and a note stating it would be foolish for them to pay all that money for the surgery and not pay for the followup course of care. I'm so angry I can't sleep. I guess I have at least 4 weeks to iron it out. I e-mailed Lisa and asked for a prescription for the splint to be raised and one for O.T. and P.T. thinking it might carry more weight from them than our pediatrician because Dr. Nath did the surgery. It took me 2 1/2 years to get the surgery approved. I'm so tired of having to fight for my daughter for everything she needs at school, the insurance companies, the doctors office, but I know it has to be done. Just tired of fighting all the time!
