Hwee,
I bought a book called "The Pain Cure". It talks about the science of pain, and some of the methods to help your body fight pain. I take the vitamins and supplements recommended to help me. These supplements help the body maintain the endorphin and saratonin levels. You can find the book online for about $15. I hope this helps your father. I know you suffer when he suffers. I hope it helps you...Karl

Have you tried amyltriptalyn sp? at night? It should help him sleep as it did for me. My problem was waking up the next day. Hang in there Red

Dear Hwee,
I am desparately sorry that your Dad (and you) are going through this. It's too easy for me to say, but please try and be strong for your Dad. I know you would do anything to help him, and that you are at your wits end over this.
My best advice to you right now is to take your Dad to a doctor right away, and explain that he has had no sleep for days now...maybe even take him to a hospital, to the drs who are treating him, and get them to see him as soon as possible.
I truly hope he (and you!) can get some rest soon...try to stop him focussing on the pain, use any kind of distraction, don't even mention the word, definitely try not to show that you are also distressed as this will definitely make him feel worse...all things that could help. I'm so sorry that I can't do more but please remember, we are all here and know what you are going through.
Please keep us updated.

PS; I am working on a very long article about pain based on the Input pain management programme...should be ready soon hopefully.

Dear All,
Thank you for your valuable advises.
My dad is now in the hospital. We call for an ambulance to sent him to the hospital on Tuesday morning 3am plus because he has difficulty breathing.
Today the doc told me that they categorise him under dangerously ill patient. They said that my dad has a minor heart attack, his lung has water and might have numonia. He is now on oxygen mask with 100% oxygen. They call in the renal specialist and the heart specialist and consulted other specialists too. I think the tbpi pain causes the heart attack coz he told me many times that the pain does goes into the heart and it is excruciating.
I am soooo sad. I can only pray hard that he will get well soon.

Hi Court & Gillian,
Thank you very much for the prayer.
My dad can't breathe well last night so the doc refer him to the Intensive Care Unit to insert a breathe tube from the mouth. He has four specialist taking care of him. They are giving him dalysis today and maybe a few more day to draw out the water from his body.
I have checked with his renal specialist to confirm that this is only temporary and my dad won't need to go for dalysis when he is well. However, now I have to pray hard that he will get well soon.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.
