Getting medical records from childhood

How did you track down your medical records from childhood. I'm having an awful time doing this. The only thing I know is what hospital I was born in. My father doesn't remember anything (he couldn't even remember the hospital) regarding doctors, tests or the like. My mom who would have known is dead and no one else in my family has a clue. I'm trying to get my birth records from the hospital but due to that hospital no longer existing I'm having problems. I really need to get those records. I'm hurting more and more every day and need to get something done. I think if I had those records it might be easier.

I was never able to get my records....they had been convienently "lost". Turns out that even way back when I was 2 and my Dad joined the Air Force, the Air Force tried to get them....they were "lost" then. All I have is what the military Drs did from the time I was 2, which was some OT til I was 4. From then on they didn't feel I could benefit from more so.....

With that said....when I saw Dr Shenaq he said he could easily see from my current tests and what we did have from the Air Force what he needed.

Not much help, I know, but hopefully with some x-rays, and a MRI the Dr you find can get a good idea exactly what is going on for you.

I tried to get my records when I found UBPN but could not. The hospital closed and the records were supposed to be sent to another hospital... funny but the storage place where all the closed hospitals records were kept burned down... amazing but true...

I understand that there are two types of birth certificates... one has complete information on our families and birth... but I don't know how to get the complete one. I know you have to request it I am not sure but I would guess we would have to write to our State Health Dept?
