new to ubpn son with rbpi
hi my son is 25 and received rbpi 9-5-04 due to a motorcycle accident. we have received the run around with no one really knowing anything about this injury. finally found a doctor in Atlanta, Ga. that specializes in this injury and he says injury so severe he would not touch it all his nerves are involved. he is checking with mayo clinic to see if anything they might can do. my question is does he need to be getting any kind of therapy on this arm or is there anything we can do at home. is there any support groups in Georgia for this injury

Beverly, I think I emailed you a little while back. Yes you should do range of motion things weith his shoulder, elbow, and ifngers. You want to keep everything as flexible as possible! It makes things much easier in the long run. I Am not personally aware of any support groups in GA for this but UBPN does put on a camp every other year for those of us affected with this injury to get together. 2005 is the year. Camp is Sept 15-18 in Chevy Chase, MD (Washington DC area) If you are NOT on the mailing list to recieve Outreach, please email Nancy with your information so that you can get Outreach with all of the camp information. This was one of the greatest things for me was going to camp and meeting others and just talking about how to get on with life. Believe it or not, it helps a TON!!! Nancys email is nancy@ubpn.org. Please let us know what else we cn help you with!

thank you both for the info. we have been doing some exercises, but didn't know if it was enough. it would be nice to go to camp and met some of the ones i have been reading about. i think it would help us all my son with the injury and me and my youngest son also to know what others are going through and that we are not by ourselves
