Shooting pains
Does anybody else have only occasional shooting pains in their bpi arm? I'm getting pangs that feel like an electrical charge to my hand of my bpi arm. I am still hoping to someday get a nerve transfer if my insurance ever agrees to cover it.

Re: Shooting pains
I get those electric shooting pains in my hand as well, not the rest of the arm, just in the hand (nuckles area). The best way that I Have found to help the pains is to apply pressure. Sometimes this is squeezing my hand till the fingers turn blue, sometime I beeat on it with whatever is avaliable, some times a hammer! haha It makes it feel better and it sure has worked the past 4 years. My doc thinks i am nUTS but it really helps! Give it a try! I am interested in what others do for this pain!!!

Re: Shooting pains
James gets burning, stinging pains in his hand and fingers. Sometimes he says it feels like his hand is in a vice being squeezed and other times he says its like his hand is on the stove burner. He will grab his hand and lose his breath and I have to make him breath literally. He squeezes it too, looks like that would make it worse, if thats possible???????

Coutney,
Ryan use to bang his arm on the walls. After the nerve transplant the pain was better. That was 5 years ago.
He also stopped taking meds as it wasn't doing any good.
Hugs, Karen

Thanks everybody - I thoughtit was only me. It DOES go away after awhile. I always thought it meant there was some life in that arm. ~Ray
Re: Shooting pains
Yes i too expirence those terrible pains, i get the electrical shocks but it only gets me in thumb, i just squeeze the thumb until i am about to rip it off and that beleive it or not does help it. If i just rub the index finger it will fire up the thumb. I also get the pressure down the arm and it feels like it is on fire. I have tbpi to my right arm, happened in june 2004. I had the oberin surgery in November and to this day i still get the pains. Hang in there they tell me it gets better.
