Sling

My son who is 25 year old, sustained a Brachial Plexus injury a little over a year ago. He has full use of his hand, but cannot lift his arm as the nerve to the bicep has been pulled out of his spinal cord.

Since he has full use of his hand, he is able to do many things. I have heard of a special arm brace that has a strap that allows his arm to be raised and lowered using his other hand. This would enhance his capabilities.

Has anyone heard of anything like this and if so, please direct me to the manufacturer?

I think that what you are looking for is not a sling, but rather a "lockable elbow" prostetheis. I have found that this prosthesis is best anchored with a cross x brace off the opposing shoulder. The trick is to rig up a wrist brace with a belt clip to go with it.This belt clips holds the weight off a persons shoulder ad you can even fit the wrist brace with a "terminator 2" conjunction and the prosthesis can be mounted with various attachments.
just what i'm working on.
