winged scapula/shoulder dislocation
My son was injured 3 years ago. At that time emg studies did show a Long thoracic nerve injury and he was having a problem with shoulder dislocation. Over time and with physical therapy winging went away but shoulder dislocation continued. He had surgery last year to repair his shoulder. Surgery was successful he was doing great for 1 year, then he fell and reinjured himself. He started winging again and now his shoulder dislocates in every direction. We have taken him to Dr.Price in NYC who recommended the top shoulder specilist around. His EMG's have been basically normal with slight abn.of the axillary nerve (no big deal per dr) My sons pain has tripled and his shoulder dislocates constantly and he is having severe winging. The ortho we were referred to does not think he has a bpi and is hoping when he does surgery next week (on his shoulder) fixing the dislocation will help alleviate his problems. Could this all be mechanical and not at all a BPI? Anyone else experiencing this. His symptoms sound like so many other Traumatic BPI on this forum.
