Hi - my husband was involved in an accident [bike of course] mid March and has a 'flail' right arm. Docs. notes taken from MRI scan say 'avulsion?' - which I believe is the worst case scenario. He can move his shoulder and his fingers/hand to a certain extent and has feeling throughout the arm but cannot move his elbow/wrist at all or lift the arm.
He has a broken collar bone and several broken ribs and is also now talking about a numbness in his arm. He has pain, but its not extreme [at the moment any way].
He is due to see a specialist shortly. Can anyone give advice/information that may assist us.

Trina,
Others will post with more and better than I can give. Keep reading and asking, there is much to learn. Sorry to here about your hubby. Where do you live? Someone can reccomend a specialist based on where you live. Be ready to travel if necessary. Unfortunately travel comes with your membership to the "club". I know it won't be easy taking care of your husband, so come here often for help. Cheers...Karl...

Hi
So sorry to hear about your husband. My name is Liz and I am the chairperson of the TBPI Group charity here in the UK. I hope I can help a bit.
I'm guessing from your email address that you are in the UK? If so, I might be able to give you quite a lot of advice, including some about the surgeons we have in the UK who treat people with a TBPI.
We also have a website written by and for injured people which you might find useful http://www.tbpi-group.org
Recently, we produced a leaflet/brochure aimed at providing people who are newly injured with information. Copies of it have been distributed to several of the hospitals here, and you might find it useful.
If you contact me via email, I will be more than happy to send you more details and a leaflet. My email address is liz@tbpi-group.org
There is also another message board out there, the web address for it is http://pub28.ezboard.com/badultswithbra ... usinjuries
Have a look...you'll find many of us from the UK (AND the US!) post there too.
All the best...please don't hesitate to contact me..
