Hi,

Read this article for some help.

http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia/aquatics.html

It says to have your healthcare provider contact ARN to find a place for you.

Hope this helps!

Hi, Melina. I don't live in Houston (far from it), but when I was looking for aquatherapy pools, I called hospitals in the area and spoke with a PT or OT. Often therapy pools are affiliated with hospitals or wellness centers. You might try calling TCH. I don't know if they're still there, but when we've gone to TCH for surgeries, Cheryl Mitchell and Rose Banda were wonderful. Maybe one of them could help. If there's a pediatric therapy center in the area, you could try there too. As sonmeone else suggested, ask the Pediatrician. I found that most people I asked knew of at least one place, then as I asked others I found other places. We actually have at least a few aqua therapy pools nearby -- which I'm very thankful for b/c I know many don't have one therapy pool anywhere near them. ~Tina

Maybe you can go to TCH for aqua therapy. I know that they used to have a pool that was used for therapy. I just don't know if it's still intact after the flooding they had a couple of years ago. There are other children's hospitals there, too - like Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital or TIRR. Look up the Texas Medical Center and get a listing of the hospitals. Shriners might have a pool there actually.

I tried typing in "Houston aqua therapy" in the 'search web' area of Yahoo - got lots of places. We live here in the Houston area but I am not familiar with aqua therapy places here - we just swim in regular pools. Good luck finding what you want!

I just had the decompression surgery last week. At first it seemed like it was going to work, there wasnt alot of pain and my wing was a little smaller. However....two days ago I started getting a new pain which radiates from my right trapezius up into my neck. The insision is about 3 inches below the trap but the scalene which was cut never bothered the trap or neck before. The pain is unbelievable!!!! Has anyone had this surgery with this outcome? Im starting to wonder if I had TWO points of impingement:one at the middle scalene(which the doc already cut)and one still on the trap. The thing is all of my emg's said the trap was normal, they just indicated an abnormal seratus. Im supposed to start pT next week for ROM, I cant imagine doing that with this new pain. could this pain be the thoracic nerve coming back to life? Someone PLEASE respond if you know ANYTHING. thanks
