James wants to participate this spring in these activities at school. I contacted his Dr. and she said it would be ok, although when I talked to her, I didint realize they weighed 8, 10 & 12 lbs. Apparently they practice with the heavier ones so when they are in competition they throw the smaller ones and its easier and they will go farther. Question is: How heavy is too heavy to be doing this with your good arm? I am going to call his Dr again and make sure but if she gives the go ahead, do you all think it would be too much strain on him??

I have never let the bpi stop me doing anything and I still ride horses, swim, run and other stuff now aged 46.

I have to say my good shoulder appears to be crapping out now-I have to limit what I do and overhead or twisting movements are definitely out. Despite this I would not change the way I have managed my injury over the last 25 years even if I knew for sure some things contributed to the issues my good shoulder now has. My general fitness is very good as a result of my active lifestyle. Normal activities with my peers (and in some cases exceeding what uninjured people can do....I LOVE that!) was and is one of the most therapeutic things I found, it has helped stop me feeling like a victim or a cripple.

I forget how old your son is, I was wondering how you would stop him doing anything he really wanted to? I'm just curious as the mother of a 17 year old girl who now has all adult priveliges (it's less stressful than fighting her and she's a good kid) an 11 year old boy who pushes the boundaries as much as he can-he attends a democratic school where the kids make the rules and this has given him debating and conflict resolution skills that run rings round poor old me.....and a 6 year old girl who watches all of this with interest and is forming her own agenda, possibly of world domination.
Any tips on child taming welcome :0)

Thanks, Kath, xiggers, and Jenny! I responded more on the general board. I appreciate all your input!
Jenny??? Child taming??? Sounds like its all under control with yours. LOL! James is 12 and I have a daughter Jessica age 18!! Shes graduating this May! Probably the most independent and responsible "kid" I know! Exceptional student, making plans for college in the fall and wants to go into teaching physical education in elementary school, and possibly coach high school softball. Well see, "if she dont get a wild hair"! Ya know, moving out, all the college horror stories. Ughhhh...more worries....
