We are set to be at the Mayo Clinic on Wednesday and I was hoping somebody couold help me with questions that I should ask regarding my daughters upcoming surgery. Also, did anyboy else have a paralyzed diaphragm with their injury? If so were the doctors able to fix it? If not? How do you get along without it? Thank you for any info.

What is the extent of her damage?
Chance of recovery without surgery?
What procedure(s) do they want to do?
How many have they done?
What is the success rate?
What is the recovery time/ what does it involve? (therapy, bracing)
Can they put you in contact with someone who had similar procedure(s)?

i have a paralyzed diaphram. At my last check up at LSU it had made no recovery. I really do not notice much difficulty doing anything. My main hinderences are due to the totally flail arm. But i do not have any shortness of breath and until i read this post i totally forgot it was paralyzed.
