Has anyone else's child had severe pain from a dislocation? Just curious to know if you immobilized the arm or what... I already contacted her doctor and am waiting for a response..but am curious to know what you did.
Thanks,
francine

Hi Francine,
Funny you mention this because yesterday for the first time Amanda woke up crying and said that her arm hurt. She was holding it really funny and it seemed sort of stiff. This lasted about 2 minutes and then she stopped. She hasn't done it since yesterday but I do believe it is because her shoulder is dislocated. Dr. Shenaq told us they can have pain from the dislocated shoulder. Is Maia still in pain? What did the doctor have to say?

I was just reading the posts on the babies waking up crying.
This obpi baby has been waking up with my arm and face freezing (bpi arm and side of face) - I wonder if it is the change in the weather?
I also wonder how the weather changes effect the children? I know that I cannot stand to have ice packs (very painful) on my shoulder or bpi arm. I really never realized how badly it hurt until this past year of PT when they would forget and put cold on my arm.
I cannot tolerate cold and really cannot feel how hot something is so I have to be careful not to get burned.

Brittney, 9 yr old, OBPI, dislocated shoulder, has always said that she has had no pain. I've noticed that when it changes temps outside, especially when it's rainy, she really gets stiff in her arm. She carries it really tight and she arches her back more (she has a slight scoliosis which is being monitored). Anyway - she tightens up with changes in temperature/weather outside. Yesterday she kept complaining that she must have pulled something in her shoulder because it hurt her arm to move it certain ways - - this morning she was just fine. I always tend to inwardly "freak out" when she complains of pain in her left arm or shoulder but it always seems to be nothing and happens just as often on her right side, her head, foot, etc... But left arm really gets my attention! Even as a baby she was never in any pain. I was always worried about that and from what I hear from other parents she and I were lucky because pain is an issue with some.

Maybe it is the weather. It's funny but Tess has been complaining of her shoulder popping. She has had MRI's on her shoulder and it looks fine previous of this popping. Time to visit the ortho! Good luck.

When hannah had her surgery, the dr said that he had to suture her humorus bone back in place because it was out of it's socket. I had no inkling that hannah was in any pain. She is 10 months old.
