Small Step, but promising

Hi everyone, just thought I would post this message. In the past couple of days Michael has been able to move his rbpi shoulder outwards, moving the arm down to the elbow out as well. Since the accident he has only been able to shrug the shoulder, but not actually move the shoulder outwards or any part of the arm. Are we counting our chickens etc or are we seeing some form of improvement? Anyway we are excited about this small sign and hopefully it is just the start of bigger things to come. Michael is now 8 months since accident and 5 months since surgery. Just had to share the news.....every little bit helps doesn't it....take care best wishes to all....Narelle

Narelle, Thats great! Oh yea! These small accomplishments means so much. From the way you described, sounds like hes doing so well, so early on. James is 14 months post accident and is 9 months post op and has gotten the same recovery so far as Michael. He had an EMG done in October and it showed a slight deltoid activity so weve been working trying to make that stronger. Keep up the good work!!!

Hi Priscilla, Thanks for the reply. Doesn't it make the heart skip a beat when we see our kids excited with a small sign of hope. Michael is really excited about this small improvement, it gives them and us the hope of possibly greater things to come. Michael got into the pool today and was able to move the arm outwards even more.....we just keep trying and I'm sure things will keep on improving as I am sure they will for James as well....regards Narelle
