Well we are back home this Saturday morning. Got in around 11:30 p.m. So glad to be home. Michaela did extremely well. Loved TCH. Such a warm and friendly place.Easy to stay there.
Michaela's surgery went well and though Dr. Nath thought he may have to do the capsulodesis at the same time he said that after releasing the pectoralis she was very tight so he thought it would be fine for now. Future surgeries for her wrist and hand. Her splint isn't up though it's more out to the side.Dr. Nath said since she had more had function he wanted to make sure she didn't lose any of it and that her shoulder was still very tight so the therapist will have to reheat the splint after 10 days and make it a little bit higher. That will have to be done a couple of times to raise it more gradually.
She did great during the splinting and believe it or not she's back to her usual self already. Oh, and she thinks it's fun to bop everything with that darn thing. I'm afraid she'll crack it. Then of course she's right at Dad's crotch level so he's gotten hit a few times. with me it's in the stomach or chin when sitting . She thinks it's hilarious.
We did get Dr. Nath once we got there. They said they had so many emergencies over the weekend our surgery had to be rescheduled to wednesday morn.So we took the extra free day and went to the Children's Museum. Even my husband liked it, but of course he's a big kid anyway.LOL It's very science and math oriented but on a under 10 age level and the kids participate in everything. Kid's TV station and grocery store.
I'm anxious to get started Monday morning setting up appts. for doctor and therapy. Going to do the "bathing" and excercises and resplinting this morning. Trying to get Michaela to stay still being a problem. When they let me do it in the hospital yesterday she wanted to turn her body while Roger was holding her arm, so I think we're going to do the kitchen table method so she'll be limited in movement. To everyone who's been answering my questions a BIG thank you. I feel I went into this with my eyes open and came out better for it.Just wanted to update everyone and also thank you for your prayers. LeeAnne

Re: Michaela's Mod Quad
Lee Anne - I'm so glad things went ok and it sounds like Michaela is doing really well. Very very glad!
We bathe maia on the kitchen table on a thick quilt and I think she loves this so much - she still alternates between this and the bathtub.
Well - we are here for you - if things come up just know that we are here ok?
big hugs,
francine

Hi Leanne,
Glad to hear Michaela's surgery went so well and that you had a good experience at TCH. I met Michaela and your family at the last two FL picnics, she's a sweetie. Take care and let us know how she progresses.
