Hello All,
I am seriously thinking of getting surgery for my bpi. I have had this since birth and as I'm getting older, my good arm is breaking down from over use. Are there any adults that have had surgery? Did it work?

I may not be the best to answer your question but can tell you my experience so far. I say I am not the best because I just had mod quad surgery 4 days ago so am right at the beginning of recovery. Prior to surgery I could lift my arm only 30*, could not get my arm past my eye level. Two days after surgery I was allowed to shower for the first time and instead of turning my head upside down to wash my hair I stood up straight just like a normal person - it was very sureal! It felt like there were balloons atached to my arm it went up so easy. That for me alone was worth the surgery. I can't wait to start physical therapy in a week! I had surgery in Houston with Dr. Nath who has the bedside manner of a saint. I had no post surgery pain - just feels like a good hard work out and have taken very few pain pills. I am 38 and only wish I had known of the mod quad surgery earlier. If you search this site and Dr. Nath's site you will find several diaries and testimonials from adults much further along or done with recovery. If you call Dr. Nath's office they will give you phone numbers of people who have had surgery so you can ask questions. I hope this was helpful - recovery I hear is very individual depending on degree of injury and how hard you are willing to work. I, myself, had to do this - I just couldn't let this chance go by.
