You need to seek a nuerologist for your nephew and have some tests done to see which nerves are damaged and to what extent. Ask if there are any Brachial Plexus Specialists that can see your nephew and if he is not in physical therapy, doing range of motion excersises to his right arm/hand should be started and from there a physical therapist may have more info for you; maybe electrical stimulation could help?
Best of luck!

I don't know of any BPI specialists specifically in your area, but that doesn't mean that they aren't there.
Maybe you could look through the medical directory on UBPNs site and email some of these specialists to find out if they know of any specialists near you.
There is always hope...don't give up!

Apparently there is an excellent bpi surgeon in Beijing. My son's doctor from the U.S. is meeting with him (this month, I think) to learn more about his approach to treating bpi injuries. I'll see what I can find out for you.

Just heard back from the Mayo doctor who will be traveling to meet with imminent surgeons all over:

He will be visiting Professor Gu in Shanghai. He is the one who pioneered the Contrateral C7 and the full length Phrenic nerve techniques.

Take care & keep us posted.

Hi Zafar,

Have you had any luck contacting Professor Gu in Shanghai? I can try to get more info from the Mayo Clinic if you're having a hard time finding him. Could your nephew travel to Shanghai? I'm not sure where you live.

There has been a poster on these boards, Hwee Yong, who lives in Singapore. His father had the injury but with a lot of other complications also from the accident. I can put you in touch with Hwee if you'd like to find out who his father has been seeing.

Take care & keep us posted.
