I have been cleared for a January 27 to visit the Mayo Clinic to see if my injury is treatable. I will try to work out in the meantime to get any muscles firing and keep you posted.

I think you just may win the prize for longest time between injury & potential treatment - we'll probably be reading about you in a medical journal at some point in the future.

Which nerves are avulsed? How were you injured?

It will be interesting to see what Mayo pulls out of their bag of tricks. Keep us posted!

Hi Ellen, I am not sure which muscles were damaged but remember C4 mentioned. I was in a single car crash that threw me James Bond style thru the t-top. I was ready to just live life this way and have gotten quite used to having a bpi. I didn't even know there was a name for my injury. I credit my girlfriend, Linda with finding your website. Thru your website she learned there is also a bpi center at the Mayo and worked to get me an appointment there of which I will always be thankful to her.. They told me years ago of possible muscle transfer but I was young and worried about huge incisions & scars.
Now I realize that scars DO heal and are nothing compared to using your arm & appearing normal.
I'm pretty jazzed with the idea of possibly getting it fixed. I welcome the idea of being useful in helping other people and think a medical writeup sounds cool.
In most of my pictures I try to hide my arm. You can see some on my old webpage if you click on my screenname. I know, I need to update it.......... Thanks for the interest!
