does anyone know how often a post op tape should be sent to tch following mod quad. My son is almost 18months post mod quad and last tape I sent was at 8months post. He did see Dr Shenaq at a picnic in June. Thanks for any info

I think there are too many variables for there to be one set timing protocol. For ex. the age of the child, the severity of the injury, what else is going on -- such as the condition of the shoulder, if any other surgeries are possibily planned, etc. I would just ask the surgeon. We have always been given written discharge insructions indicating when to do the first post-op video. I know that a picnic evaluation usually serves in place of a video evaluation. However, from what you say, that was 8 months ago. I also think that the timing is partly up to the parent. For ex., regardless of what timeframe TCH tells you, if you see something going on (positive or otherwise) and think an updated video is warranted, then I don't see any reason why you couldn't just send one. At this point in Nicole's progress, I wouldn't want to go any longer than 6 months (or even less) w/o some sort of evaluation from TCH (FYI, she's almost 3 y.o. and had the Capsulodesis in Dec 01). Just my thoughts. I hope this helps. -Tina
