Hello Everyone,

I just flew home from Houston yesterday! I had "mod quad" surgery with Dr. Nath on tuesday at methodist Hospital. I am 3 days post-op and starting to get used to the pillow splint that i will be wearing for the next three weeks. I have begun some passive/active stretching of my left arm this morning(with the help of my wife.) and although things are a little tender and tight,I can already see/feel a difference.I just want to say that Dr. Nath is a phenominal surgeon, He is very thorough and he and his staff and everyone at the Methodist hospital made me feel very comfortable through this experience. Glen, Dean-na , Rachel, Kamren-thanks for the replies to my previous post. I also want to thank everyone here at the UBPN boards because if i hadn't stumbled upon the wealth of resources here I would have never known that there are surgical options for some adults who have BPI injuries. anyone wishing more info feel free to e-mail me at anytime arc76@snip.net

did you find you had any numbness inthe arm as it was stretched with the pillow? Did it go away?

Suzy,
The pillow splint was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, because it put a lot of pressure on the ulnar nerve causing my arm to "go to sleep" as well as a lot of pain throughout the arm. I am currently only using the splint when sleeping and the pain is gone.

Dear Joe,
Your email as written in your posting was arc76@snip.net. It bounced for me a number of times. Is there something missing? Linda

Kath,

Things are going well with rehab, i am working on ROM exercises and a lot of isometrics. The hardest part is trying to break habits, and all the "cheating" i do to achieve movements. Use of a mirror helps me to be more aware of form for a lot of the exercises. Overall i am happy with the progress i am making so far.

Joe,
I found that using kinesio taping to inhibit those old muscles from trying to do all the work really helped me in the rehab post mod quad surgery. Ask your therapist about it.
