My Daughter

Post by admin »

My daughter has erbs palsy since she was born at first they said that she would not need surgery she has her bicep but not the tricep. They want to do surgery to let her have movement to the side and back so she can like throw a ball. They are going to take a muscle out of her back. Please someone tell me if your child has had a surgery like this. My daughter is two years old.

Thanks,

April

April,
I have not had that surgery but I had a similar one. They rerouted part of my tricep I think to my bicep in hopes that I could reach above my head. Now that I am in therapy its starting to work. I stil have tricep function and am gaining bicep function and although it is very weak because I never really worked to strengthen my muscles after surgry which was almost 8 years ago, I am gaining function like crazy. I never thought that in a million years I would be able to put up my own hair into a high pony tail. Now I have enough function to put it up. I have to lay down to do it but I CAN do it!

Dont worry too much we are all little troopers. Every thing will be ok.

Hi April,

I'm sorry to hear your daughter will need surgery but I have heard wonderful stories of children who had this surgery. My daughter is scheduled for primary (nerve graft) in about a week. I hope someone will respond to let you know about their child's surgery and post op. Good luck!
