Sling for running

I have a 22 yr old son with LTBPI, 11 months post accident , 4 months post two surgeries at Mayo Clinic. He has been given the OK to not use the sling but still prefers to wear it in "public" for now. He would like to resume some of his prior "active" activities especially running. I know there has been a lot of posts on "slings" but we would like to know of any that are really suited for physical activities in reference to comfort and immobilizing the arm. Thanks
Steve

Steve, have a look at the pictures of one of our group members wearing his sling.
He made it particularly for running. I think he adapted one of those Weider weight lifting belts and last time I heard from him, it worked a treat and kept his arm shoulder and hand completely immobile while running. The photos are on a Yahoo Groups website which means you have to be approved by the site author to view them...its easy, just go to
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/tbpi-photos/ and you should get a page telling yu how to register.

Steve, when I run I use this sling
http://www.armsling.com/ and tighten it up so that my hand is almost on my shoulder, if that makes sense. This sling has lycra in it so it does give a bit and doesnt seem to throw my balance off much while running yet it iekeeps my hand up so that it doesnt just hang. I really hope this makes sense. I dont have a pic yet of me wearing it for a run yet but when I get one I will let you know! I Dont normally wera a sling anymore, just for running.
COurt xx
On a side note, I am 24, 3.5 years post crash, tell your son.... it is AMAZING how little peeps notice the arm without a sling! Its not as noticable as we tend to thing it is!

I highly recommend the sling that Courtney referenced. Get the swathe so that you can wrap the arm nice and tight. I went running this morning and wore the sling and swathe. I love it - I just wish that they had one for the water. The sizes run small. I am 5'11 and got the extra large. It fits perfect.
See ya

Here's another link to a pic of Rob wearing a sling that he adapted himself..it looks like something very similar to the sling Court and Rich posted about.
