DRUM ROLLS!!!!

Post by francine »

Maia and I spent a good amount of time in the bathtub tonight sans splintie....and we played some games together to 'wake up' her armie...cuz it has been 'sleeping' in the splint for so long.....and it worked!

She got involved in it...she moved her arm....she grasped really good...fingers working well.

And then......well time for the drumroll......

I looked at her arm and noticed that it was in
SUPINATION!!!!

then we played some pretend 'getting things and putting it to your mouth' and there it was..again and again and again and again.

I was really scared to mention this because it's like a dream for me. I'm so scared it's only there because it was in that supination stretch position in the splint and that it will tighten up and go back into it's contracted state.... I will pray that it won't. But seeing it happen is just a miracle for us. I hope it's for real!!

So happy to share some GOOD news! finally!!

hugs to all,
francine

You sneak, so that's why you were MIA for a bit during the chat, now I know where you were.

You know I'm sooooo happy for you and esp. for Maia!! I really hope this is just what she needed to get motivated to get her arm going. You should watch the Wiggles tomorrow and whenver they say "wake up, Jeff!!" substitute it for "wake up, armie!!!"

Stock up on lots of finger food and get that arm workin'!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!! That is wonderful news Francine and Maia! It really give us reassurance that we are doing the right things for our children. I am sure it is only going to get better over time.

I'm in a freakout still.... I am really scared. I just don't believe that it's real and I'm thinking that it's just temporary... I am SO scared! I almost don't want to celebrate with Maia because what happens if it goes away. Is this terrible or what? don't know what to do about this...I guess just work with it and foster it and pray a lot. Can't believe I'm reacting like this. I just don't want to disappoint her or disapoint me..we've gone through so much.

I faxed Dr. Nath - I want him to confirm that it's real...lol oh gosh this is too much - my head is pounding! I just don't know what to think!

ok moms whose kids have had capsulodesis a while back.... are results like this stable? please be honest with me.
