Tendon lengthening vs Capsular Release

Post by tnmoore »

I am a 32 yr old LOBI, and have a very tight contracture. According to Dr. Nath and his website the only method he knows about is the tendon lengthening. I went to a none BPI specialist and he said a capsular release would be what I need not the tendon lengthening. Anyone had the capsular release for contractures, and what was the outcome. The capsular release sounds a lot safer for the long haul, but talking to a non BPI specialist makes me question. Dr. Nath emailed and said he only performs the tendon release, and does not do anything about the capsular release. Not sure what to do....Do you think it is ok to go to a surgeon who specializes in upper extremity and not BPI's since more of my problem is the mechanical aspect of it not the neurological.
