I believe I have Drop Foot. I will see the orthopedic dr. this Friday. Has anybody had this? What exams were used to determine it? Is it getting any better? What kind of treatment have you had?

I dont know what a drop foot would be like, mine seems (looks) normal and I can run, jump walk etc no problems, but when I look at the soles of my shoes I wear out the bpi side very strangely and if I'm wearing any slip-on sandal I drag my foot on that side. I also have recurrent sciatica and an aching hip on the non bpi side so have no idea if thats related to years of compensation or just middle aged stuff I'd have got anyway.....
....let us know what the doc says, I'll be interested. :0) Good luck Jen NZ

I have a bit of drop foot too. I had a compound tib/fib fracture on the same side leg, so that hasn't helped. But I definitely have trouble lifting my foot.

Patty,
I have had some symtoms of drop foot from a lower back problem putting pressure on my siatic nerve. My PT is using therapy to stretch the back to relieve the pressure on the nerve. He also has me doing exercises to strenthen the anke and calf muscles. What did you find out at the doctor? Hope this helps...Karl...
