My daughter is now 17 days old and can still only move her hand and wrist. Her head was forcefully tugged on during birth. Does anyone have any stories of a complete or near complete recovery for babies injured this way. I hear some success stories but those children do not seem to have been tugged on. Very worrid can anyone help

Stevo I replied about my oldest to your other post abouthim having alot of recovery but some residual weaker muscles that lead to a shoulder problem- but my youngest was also injured and he truly is 100% recovered - no weaknesses and very dexterous and strong - he can do everything and better than most - I can't remember how quickly everything came back for him I just know it was quicker than for my oldest - Probably complete recovery in first 2 or 3 months - my oldest had most things working by 6 mos but was weak - couldn't crawl and hard to raise arm although he could raise it.

both of my bpi kids were really pulled on their heads as shoulders were stuck. Richards first sign of recovery came with the slightest finger twitch at about three weeks he had no feeling or movement till then at all in the hand or arm. Then the fingers and hand gradually got stronger and the arm started to come weak and gradual. By three months he could move his arm but it was weak - he never could crawl. at thirteen years now hehas good dexterity ,can raise his arm above his head, plays piano, has done team sports like volleyball,basketball,soccer-but now finds it to rough and it makes his arm hurt too much in the shoulder. his biceps are good, but is internally rotated and cannnot supinate on his own- the main problem is the shoulder became deformed and subluxed. My third child also was pulled on his head and had a completley limp arm and hand and I had a separated pelvis, -did truly completely recover. his function came back faster and more complete probably by the time two months he was doing really well and just kept getting stronger -today he is seven and no residual weakness or limitation. I will still send my e-mail if I can get it to work.
