family of bpi who also has traumatic brain injury. we're trying to help him with pain managment and referral for surgical repair of avulsions.

My name is Kelly, 49 year old female, who fell off a deck in 2003 and have a right side tbpi. I had a nerve transplant in early 2004. I just found this board a month ago. Its more informative than most doctors!

Thank you guys, I actually enjoy reading it so altho it is a bit time consuming when I do it, I think it's worthwhile. I do love those different causes. If I remember, the girl whose arm got paralysed watching a movie (Mulan if I remember rightly!) was lying on a couch and fell asleep for a long time in the wrong position. It seems laughable but I guess that's what happens in some of the surgery related bpi, it doesn't take that many hours to get a dead arm. I would assume that those kinds of tbpi do get better relatively quickly. I really would know what percentage of the posters have had significant recovery but I guess I'll never know.

Once my mum woke up after lying awkwardly and found her arm totally dead and without any sensation. She immediately thought "ooh this is how Jenny's arm is" and lifted it up in front of her face to get a look. Well, like most non crips she had no idea how heavy a dead arm is and how hard it is to grip it right when you can't actually feel it, so she dropped it on her face and gave herself a black eye!
Thanks again for joining in everyone, hope 2006 is a good year for the world, it surely couldn't be worse than 2005.

I'm new to this website,but not new to BPI. I have a six year old daughter with a left arm BPI. She has had much success with OT,PT and aqua therapy. As she
goes to school we face new problems and more heartache for me. Also insurance is starting to deny
us aqua therapy. Any suggestions?

surgeons gave me brachial plex. on left. pain is neverending horrible. right arm now painful from overuse. bob / pennsylvania
