Hello,
I really hope you can help me with advice.
I'm from 'the other side of the fence' so to speak. Somebody very special to me is on Topomax. I could do with some help as to how to deal with the mood effects it has. I dont want a medication to end things between us but I'm scared it might go that way.
She doesnt talk to me about it, and i never know if she's up or down. One day i may be 'pressuring' her so i back off a bit, the next day i get told I'm ignoring her.
Could someone out there please help...
I do not want to give up on her

Re: Topomax - additional side effects
I have been researching Topomax for a long time and one thing that has stuck out was hair loss. I have lost 50-60 lbs. but I am getting off of it just for the fact that right now I have fairly thick hair and I refuse to loose it. No amount of weight loss is worth that. Just thought you would be interested in the research.

I have been taking topomax for about 2 years for bi-polar diaorder in addition to zoloft and it is a miracle drug as far as I am concerned. It sounds like you have something else going on.I Wouldn"t be too quick to blame all these symtoms on the topomax. Topomax really has very few side affects and I personally, think that from reading all these complaints from so many people that it might be a cope out and they just aren't giving the drug a chance.I take 350mg daily for headaches, bi-polar disorder and gran-mar seizures and it has given me my life back. The only real side affect should be fatigue temporary memory problems in the beginning which goes away. I only know I am not willing to risk my life by taking lithium for my bi-polar when there is another drug available.Once your liver starts to fail you are in real trouble. I also went off Topomax at one time and believe me, it is not addictive. I don't know where this information came from but it is certainly not true. Good luck.

Re: Topomax
I'm glad to find this forum. I've been trying for 18 months to figure out what has been causing all my hair/scalp problems and I'm nearly certain now it is the Topamax. I've lost a lot of hair and had major scalp problems. It's humiliating. I used to have a beautiful head of hair. Topamax has helped me a lot though.

HI THERE, THE REASON YOU ARE NOT LOSING WEIGHT AS FAST AS SOME IS BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DOSAGE OF SEROQUEL, SEROQUELS SIDE EFFECT IS WEIGHT GAIN. I ONLY TAKE SEROQUEL IF I ABSOLUTLY HAVE TO. I TOO AM BI POLAR AND A RAPID CYCLER. I ONLY TAKE TOPAMAX 400 MG, I HAVE LOST 42 LBS. I WATCH MYSELF VERY CAREFULLY WITH THE SEROQUEL AND EVERYTIME I TAKE IT I SEE AN APPETITE INCREASE. SUZANNE

Re: Topomax
started topomax this spring after trying everything for migraines/right side debilitating nerve pain with stabbing pain. it has been going on for years. i even had major neck disc sugery last surgery and it didn't help. started the topomax - it took three weeks to start working and was difficult at first. still had alot of migraines. now i have almost no nerve pain- which was constant- and one or two migraines a month- not three a week! it has really chaged my life! i am a little tired and maybe a litle slow but it is ok by me! stick with it for a least a month if you try it! it works better than the strongest pain medecines available and is alot better for me!

Hi..I know it has been a few years since you posted this statement but I am wondering about the hairloss too. I have been having a very large amount of hair hairloss that is really scaring me!!! I'm not sure what is causing it. I am going in for some test on Tues. (that is if this hurricane Wilma doesnt ruin everything...I live in Brevard county) I have images of being completely bald. I feel I have lost about 45% of my hair. It just falls out whenever my hair is touched. When I wash my hair thats when the most comes out. I dread having to do that. Please e-mail me back and let me know what you found out. Thanks so much!!!
