Re: Topomax
Just started Topomax and am a little leery of continuing. I have ADHD and have lived with depression all my life. Am on a variety of meds for different reasons. On Xanas for anxiety, and have trouble sleeping. The Topomax seems to wire me up as I take it at bedtime then the next day I'm depressed. I take Strattera for the ADHD and Lexapro as an anti-depressant. Any suggestions? Anyone else have ADHD?

Re: Topomax
I have been on Topomax for one week and have noticed that my headaches are worse and so is the pain in my neck.
A neuro opthalmathologist prescribed this for me and I am stopping it. I am not happy with the side effects and I am 49 years old. I will only deal with my Neurologist.
You as a patient/consumer must be an advocate and always check things out and don't wait too long before you stop the medicine or change doctors. It's vital. I know a lot about medicine.

Re: Topomax - additional side effects
Yes, I have not felt right in a week since I started and I am not taking it any more.
I was taking Paxil too and lost weight on that. But Topomax was given to me for headaches and neck pain and my headaches have been worse than ever. and my neck is killing me.

Re: Topomax
STOP TAKING IT AND CHANGE DOCTORS. THEY DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING. THEY KNOW WHAT REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE PHARMARACEUTICAL COMPANY TELLS THEM.
GOOD LUCK.
GOOD LUCK.

Re: Topomax
NO YOU SHOULD NOT BE ON IT. TOPOMAX AFFECTS THE LIVER AND KIDNEYS.
Re: Topomax
I take Fioricet or Fiorinal for migraines. These medicinces have been on the market for longer than 18 years and that makes me feel less like a test animal. so far the week I have been on Topomax I have had such intense headaches everyday all day and nothing but sleep helps.
Re: Topomax - additional side effects
get off the medication. If that is the only thing you have changed in your life. I call it process of elimination. If it is the only thing that is different in your life it very well could be causing your problems.
the way to tell is stop and see what happens. Call your doctor and tell him you're stopping.
good luck,

Re: Topomax - additional side effects
feeling tired is definitely a side effect of both paxil and topomax. I was taking paxil and now I think because of the topomax side effects I am going back to paxil.
Re: Topomax
You are so right. I have only been on topomax for one week and my headaches are worse than ever and so is my neck pain and I don't feel right so last night was my last dose.
Re: Topomax
I was on Topomax for one week and felt awful. my headaches were worse than ever and my neck pain was so bad I could not move my head. As far as weightloss I experienced some of that while on Paxil too and for weight is not a problem at 49 years of age I am 5'10 125 pounds. I feel at my age one can never be too thin, don't let that bother you; however, the memory loss and lossing train of thought is not something I will accept.
But my neuro opthalmalogist suggested this medication and after reading the PDR and the forum I stopped taking it as of yesterday. I did not like the way I felt. I slept all day and that's all I wanted to do and cried profusely for no reason.
