Hi all...

What a great msg board! On June 30, 2003 I was on my motorcycle (Harley) waiting to turn left when the car across the intersection was hit by another car and was pushed into me. I was in ICU for two weeks and rehab for 1 before being released. I've recovered from most of my injuries pretty well except for the bpi to my right arm.

I just found out yesterday that the EMG results showed that I won't be having surgery on my arm. I will be speaking to my doc next week to find out what to expect as far as therapy, etc. I now have movement in all my fingers and can lift up my arm some at the elbow. I'm excited because I had nothing for the first few weeks after my accident.

I'm so glad that I found this website so that I can gather some valuable information regarding this injury as well as emotional support from others who have the same injury.

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on just about anything relating to this type of injury, or just to relate stories.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm a 41 year old female from Southern California (not far from Disneyland).

Hi, I come her occasionally to see what's up with some of the tbpi community. My daughter is 9 y/o and has a robpi. We just came back from camp and got to see many old friends and meet new ones.

This is actually my first time "Lurking". I sustained a rt BPI 11 years ago while working in a deli department. I still experience a range of symptoms from weakness to excrutiating pain at times. I got tired of every doctor I went to telling me it is all in my head, so I searched the internet to see if there is any information. Does anyone out there know of a good doctor in the Boston, MA area that knows about adult BPI? All the docs I have seen are idiots!!!

Hi, I am 45yr female in Orlando, Fl area and have a very large(8cm) nerve sheath tumor(schwannoma) that is badly compressing my brachial plexus under my collarbone. I was scheduled for surg to remove in 2 days, but have cancelled when found out this neurosurgeon has never done any surg like this before, and would not be able to save the nerve.

We are in contact with Dr. Nath in Houston, and he feels he can either help me, or at least guide me.

This site has been very helpful, and it has been amazing to see so many others with my symptoms, even tho they may not have a tumor.

I found this sight looking up Drez. I had no idea there are so many people out there like me!!!! I'm the only one I knew that had this, and I was pretty mad about it. I was in a motorcycle accident in 87 in a small town in Northern Illinois ( was 17 and ready for college), hit a tree head on at 55mpr, my boyfriend died. I never liked motorcycles and I wasn't allowed on them. I should have listened to myself and my parents. I'm thankful for this sight and the help you all provide. Keep it up!! And thanks again. God bless you all and I hope you all live happy and grateful lives. It could always be worse, right???? (today is good day)

Hi! This is Suzie, from Columbia, Md.-- I am new to TBPI- on July 16, 2003, my wonderful husband (of almost 22 years!) sustained a severe BPI after, of all things, throwing a softball and severely dislocating his shoulder!! This shoulder had been operated on 3 times over the past 10 years for rotator-cuff injuries--guess it finally gave out--one throw too many---initially no feeling or movement from above the elbow distally, then regained movement to just above the wrist--hand and wrist movement were non-existant--Anyway, I am also an RN, and have been doing much research into BPI, and found a great specialist at Hopkins, who is guiding us--good news is that David has gotten some wrist and hand motion back over the past 2 weeks--not fully, but we're getting there!! Found also that it is a severe stretch injury, not a nerve tear or evulsion, which I take it to mean the chances of recovery ore better!!?? He undergoes a f/u EMG November 4, and I guess then we'll know better--still have to orthopedically get that shoulder fixed too....will continue to "lurk"--or maybe write more!!! Take care!!!
