After I was done being stiched up my OB and the ped. took my husband to the NICU to see her (I was out of it) they told him there her arm was hurt and it would be better soon. Five hours later I got to see her and they said the same to me, and that a PT would be in that morning to talk with us. They had her arm pinned to her shirt and said they took her for x-rays for a broken clavicle. No break. She said she was hoping for a brake because a brake would heal "faster". The PT gave us ROMs to do until our first appt with her a month later.

my son eoghan was 11 days overdue and as my gp predicted large 9lb 2oz i am 5ft 1in average weight of 8 stone. He was yanked twisted and pulled into this world suffering a fractured humerus in left arm he needed resusitation and was sent to icu.We thought that was extent of his injury until i got him home 3 days later his right arm didnt move.We brought him back and was blatantly told he had severe erbs palsy. He was in icu since his birth and supposedly his erbs went unnoticed. The hospital provided no information or sufficent treatment it was 11 weeks until i got into crc and he received physio he has now had nerve surgery one nerve c5 ruptured c6 c7 avulsed.I feel angry hospitals can get away with disabling my child and then totally failing him in his aftercare.A better approach by delivering doctors to this condition is needed and honest explanations given.I hope you get far with this as until more people are made aware of harm hospitals are doing to our kids the more they will keep doing it

I don't think about it so much anymore. My baby was born 11 lbs and I was 3 weeks late. I'm 5'2 and all of 125 lbs I gained 84 lbs. My story sounds just like these. This is so sad. I saw her moving both arms in the sonogram the day before. All I wanted to do was turn back the clock. I never saw my specialist again either. A resident had to release us out of the hospital. His name was not on her birth certificate either. 12 years later still in PT & OT 4 times a week a surgery that made her so much better. I guess we had to go through this for some reason. I did meet some wonderful people along the way. She is beautiful, strong and full of energy and getting to be a real teenager. God bless you all and our babies.

sorry to log on as guest but I must for now. After my daughter was born the nurse took her to the nursery where the doctors kept examining her right arm. MY husband and mother-in-law(a nurse) asked why they were paying so much attention to her arm and they told them her arm was hurt but it would heal in about a month. "You can follow up with therapy if you want". Can you imagine? My ped came in took one look at my daughter and before we left the hospital we had an appt. with OT and neuro. They only bad part was the OT and neuro were part of the hospital and nobody did xrays/mri/emg until we questioned it at 9 weeks old. Everyone thought the hospital did it!
