Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Boy, can I relate to that feeling. I see my own daughters and granddaughter twisting up their hair and taking it down in a matter of seconds and sometimes it hits me...
This simple task is a major effort for us.

Putting on my seat belt in a car sometimes drives me crazy when I see how simple it is for others.
Good thing I get over it very quickly or I would be unhappy all the time... LOL...

I have BPI in my left arm/shoulder that I was born with 24 yrs ago and broke my right wrist last week. I also have long curly hair. I have been experimenting with putting my hair up on my own. So far I have either just used a cloth head band to at least keep my hair out of my face and I have found using a small enough ponytail holder kind of works. one that is small enough to stay in without having to loop it around a second time. it stays in for about half of a day. also the longer the hair the easier because you can bring it over you shoulder, less of a reach. As for bras i always have latch them in the front and twist them around anyway and have had no problems with front latching types. though because of the slope in my shouder unless it is a racer back variety it falls down my shoulder all day. I also have a "wing" from my scapula that the racer back does not bother.
when i was 9 i also had much less of a reach with my left arm then i do now. she may find it gets easier with time.
good luck
