Hi! At 50 and 100mg did anyone else ever have other side affects that included swollen lymph nodes and bad vision? My lymph nodes were chronically swollen for 2 yrs off and on while on Topamax. Since decreasing down to 25mg they are resumed normal size again.

Does anyone know how long you have to take this drug before any kidney problems might occur? I'm prone to kidney stones and heard this drug may cause them... but my doctor is out of town until mid-May and I don't know if I should continue taking this or not until I've talked to him...?

Anyone develop kidney stones on this drug and if so, after how long taking it?

Thank you.

In reply to your note on the 19th, I hope nothing happened to you...I am an RN and if you don't mind me saying...you are a fool!!! This is one of the worst drugs to stop taking abruptly! You can seize as a result There is a reason why you are supposed to be under doctor's supervision!

I gained 60 pounds on depakote. I started topomax about 2 months ago. I've lost about 12 pounds so far. I am just got up to 150mg. I am now taking that with 100mg of lamictal and haven't felt this good in years. I hope this works for you!

My son has been on Topomax for about 8 months now. His aggression has increased as well as, anxiety, feeling dumb and hopeless slowly over the last two months. He is 12 and was diagnosed with partial seizure disorder last summer. I have been hearing alot of things about this drug lately and am wondering if it is making his mood swings worse.

You are not alone. My son has been on it for 8 months. He is 12 years old. He just received his first D. Has trouble taking reading and spelling tests as his short term memory has slowed tremendously. I hear about anxiety and feeling dumb. I am going to talk to his doctor about changing him. He has almost totally lost all self-confidence and I can't let that happen!

My son at 12 has been on this for 9 months. He has recently shown increased aggitation, moodiness, short-term memory problems, and anxiety. Did you experience any of these? I have recently heard from another mother that her son became very depressed and negative while on it. Did this happen to you? I see the doctor in two weeks and am wanting to ask for a change. Would you agree this drug could be making his partial-seizure disorder worse?

I started taking it for weight loss and found on the first day that I could not stand the taste of Diet Coke anymore. On the second day I decided I would try a different soda - same thing. Then one evening I went to have a beer, and again it tasted terrible. I said at that time this would be perfect for anyone wanting to kick a drining habit (not sure how it works on hard liquor drinks). As for cravings, I don't have those, but it made drinks taste horrible for me.
