To Headachequeen.
I have had seizures since the 4th grade (32 years old now), also unknown as to why. Guess we are medical freaks! Have been on Dilantin basically my whole life since I started with the seizures. Have you tried either Dilantin or Depakote? I want to try this primarily for the weight loss factor. Could stand to go back to a size 12 (preferably 10). I haven't turned my prescription in to the pharmacist yet & not for sure if I want to after reading different symptoms that people have had. Please email me & tell me more about how you're doing on the medication, your sezuires, weight loss, side effects, etc. My address is
srgarnet@comcast.net Thanks!

Hi, I have been taking Topomax for about 3 weeks. My face has started tingling from my jaws up to my eyes. It is starting to scare me today has been the worst. I am going to contact my doctor in the morning. She told me about the hands and feet but she didn't say anything about the face.

In answer to your question, yes, it is very helpful. At first I experienced many side effects (and some I still do), but after trying many other medications topomax has been wonderful. There are always side effects with any medications, but most wear off after awhile. You and your doctor need to find the right medication for you. Most make you gain too much weight which can cause depression. Topomax is not right for everyone, but for me my family and friends have noticed a dramatic change. I hope this helps.

I have been on Topomax for 4 months now and I have been depressed to the point of attempting suicide. I have the same issues of crying for no reason at all. Irrational thoughts with no basis of fact. I just can't seem to remember anything and have trouble getting my life together. I would rather have a migraine than to have the hell I am experiencing now.

I have been searching for someone else who has been on Topomax who has actually GAINED weight. I am on a small dose 50 mg for migraines. I have steadily gained weight - not so much in pounds but in inches. Doctor doesn't believe me.

Dear John,
I have been on it for about a month now and have the joint pain as well - I thought I was going nuts! No weight loss yet, Did you say that your pain subsided when you quit taking the drug?

I read your account on the forum and was somewhat surprised! Out of all the side effects mentioned these were not listed. After first taking topomax for pain management I began having the same symptoms you are describing but after looking at the side effects could not really find anything. You hit the nail right on the head!! Thanks so much for helpful info. As for me the more I look into this med the risks far outweigh the benefits for me and I am going to get off it. Thanks again for helpful info.

I was looking for a reply talking about this. My phych wants to put me on topomax. I am bulimic and i too would like to know about how it effects that. He wants to put me on topomax with my 120mg prozac for bulimia depression and anxiety. are there any good effects besides the weight loss? if it made your bulimia worse if i get worse he'll just ship me off to in-patient and i cant handle that.

my neighbor is bi-polar and her doctor wants to put her on lamictal. She want to be put on topamax, she is on several other medications. I worry about the side affects going on, so I'm letting her read the board. When we seen what your taking, she wanted to know if lamictal gave you this terrible rash that her doctor said that starts on the face and is hard to get rid of?
