Sadly, I posted questions and looked for someone on this board who has had this done and I found no one. The doctor who wants to do the surgery on me (from Chicago) said he's written books on it and does 4-5 a year. I'm thinking of calling him and asking if those people could call me and give me their input. I'm going on 17 years and the pain (more so w/ the winter) stops me for everyday functioning. But losing bladder control and losing leg function is not worth it to me. I'm only 34!! Hopefully someone out there can say they have had success. We shall see......

Kathleen...Have a look at this thread on the TBPI Group message boards; http://pub28.ezboard.com/fadultswithbra ... =689.topic

I personally know of 5 people now who have had the DREZ procedure, 4 in the UK and one in the U.S. I was lucky enough to be invited to a Brachial Plexus Injuries symposium a couple of years ago, and I sat in on the presentations concerning pain management and control. DREZ was one of the major topics, and from what I heard in there, this surgery has been and still continues to be refined and improved.

I guess that, like everything related to BPI and surgery, the outcome will probably be only as good as the surgeons skill and experience.

I am always searching for info. on this; I'll post on here and on the TBPI Group boards if and when I find out anything else. HAope this helps a bit.

I did check that sight out and thank you for your knowledge and help in this topic. I have waited 17 yrs for pain relief and I'll wait a 17 more until there is something less risky. I guess I'm not there yet.

Hi Kathy...yeah..I don't blame you. Very brave these people are who go for this surgery, especially the first few to have had it.

I'm nowhere there myself yet...I understand how you feel.
