Re: Has anyone won a Brachial Plexus Injury following a motorbike accident?

Hi Rosaline, I successfully sued the lorry driver who hit my motorbike, made a lot easier by the fact that the police successfully prosecuted him for dangerous driving. It wasn't as easy as you'd think, everyone involved seemed to have this fixed idea about motorcyclists, it was not so much a case of proving him guilty as proving my own innocence. This was 22 years ago, I think attitudes to bikers have changed a bit but I wouldn't bank on it. Frankly I don't think I'd have won if there were not several witnesses, despite the fact that the driver came onto my side of the road and knocked me 30 feet, breaking my arm in six places and ripping all the nerves out of my brachial plexus in the process-his lawyer tried to suggest I 'fell off' by myself......!
There is now a tbpi group in the UK at http://pub28.ezboard.com/badultswithbra ... usinjuries , it's a message board and there's an informational website attached. It has been set up entirely by individuals with tbpi, some of the regular posters are in the process of making claims for their injury and may be able to help you. Also worth checking is www.nabd.org.uk who can be very helpful with this kind of thing.
If you have any questions please email me by clicking on my name above, I'm now in New Zealand but am a brit and got my injury in the UK. Good luck :0)
