I really wish it was legal for medical use in Iowa. I'd be the first in line at the "pharmacy".

not worth getting caught when your family is in politics, has lawyers and a high school administrators, that bust kids for the very same thing. Plus I have 4 children that attend a catholic school. If it becomes legal there is no doubt I will try it. Until then I will stay legal.
Believe me, I am all for legalizing it!

...or go on holiday to Amsterdam and give it a go! I work in a high school and I'm amazed that so many of the kids have the idea that marijuana is much worse for you than prescribed drugs. People really do think that if someone can prescribe a drug then it's safer than something that's illegal. well, helloooooo! Did you know that Queen Victoria used it for period pains and PMS, and what's more, she took cocaine during childbirth. Neither drug was illegal at that time so it was no big deal. ANY drug overused is potentially dangerous. Yes, marijuana makes you pretty dopey, but I've got an old lady friend who uses neurontin for post shingles pain, her doctor told her they don't call it morontin for nothing....and that's legal! When my mum was undergoing chemo the doctor told her-off the record-that cannabis was the best thing for nausea and to restore her appetite. If hippies hadn't got hold of it, it would still be legal and they would be extracting the active ingredients and providing a pain reliever that didn't mess with your brain as badly as these legal, synthetic drugs with no real long term trials will.
Don't start me.....

No you are correct herff94, there has never been a documented case of anyone OD'ing on pot, just isn't possible. Thats why I can never understand why it's illegal, people die everyday from alcohol poisoning, yet thats legal. Personally I don't smoke pot anymore, I did before my accident, but not much afterwards.

You know there is a drug that is a derivative of marijuana used to relieve nausea and increase appetite, but does nothing for pain. It's called Nabalone, it's synthetic THC. Used mainly for cancer patients. I took it 4 years ago as I was not eating and always had nausea (not from cancer, but autoimmune disorder), and it worked well for it. So I don't see why they can't make some type for pain as well!

There's already a product being made for pain, it's been made since around 2001, and members of the UK tbpi group were involved in the trials of it. It's made by GW Pharmaceuticals which is a UK based company. http://www.gwpharm.com/ It has been approved for use in Canada under the name sativex, but that info is a couple of years old so it may not been out there any more. It's a spray like the one you describe, Marieke. Canada seems pretty open minded about these sorts of things.
I can't help cynically thinking that it's not generally available because it's not made by one of the big US companies, it's hard to know whether doctors prescribe things because they think they might help you or because they are on a kickback from the pharmo company. In fact Pfizer were successfully sued for alleged dodgy practices involving sleazy marketing of Neurontin. You won't find that information on their website! And look at Vioxx-the company hid the data that showed it was dangerous to some people and there were deaths before it was finally withdrawn.
The last place to look for information on ANY drug is the company's own website. When medicine's a business, you can't trust anybody.
Have a great pain free day!

Yeah i tried it once right after my accident while i wasn't working and didn't have to worry about drug tests. It made me crazy anxious, is that normal or did i get a bad strain or something? If i lived where it was legal and i could get some controlled well grown stuff i might give it another try. I have underlying anxiety issues so maybe its just not for me. Well those of you that are able enjoy the pain free time. For me the only time i am truly pain free is if i break doctors orders on my prescribed narcotics. But to be able to sit back at home and actually relax with out the pain is well worth anything you have to do in my opinion. Enjoy.
