This is a great opportunity! So many parents read these types of magazines. May I just suggest that letters be written with a loving, educational tone rather than an angry tone. If we're trying to promote awareness, people who have no idea would probably be more likely to really listen if they are not bombarded with anger. It might cause them to be defensive rather than responsive.

Tress, the article said it's shoulder dystocia that occurs in 1% of all vaginal births. You're right about the BPI figure - 2 to 3 out of every 1,000 births, roughly.
B.V., you are absolutely right about taking a nice and educational tone in our letters. I consider the boards to be my safe "ranting and raving" place, but my letter was nice in tone (I hope)! Thank you for making that point.
