Hi Tammy, what part of TN are you in? We live near Knoxville and have flown to Houston 4 times for our daughter's 2 surgeries and for a conference. We also were able to get discounts from the airlines for almost all of our flights by the way. My 3 year old daughter had both her surgeries at TCH (her mod quad was performed by Dr. Nath) but we are now working with Dr. Nath at his new clinic. We have sent a videotape every 6 months as part of her checkup. We have been extremely pleased with her progress and very impressed with Dr. Nath's insight and recommendations for treatment. Dr. Nath has a lot of experience working with older children as well as adults also.
Good luck with your search and treatment for your son. This message board is a wonderful support system and full of information for parents.

Just to clarify:

Dr. Saleh Shenaq is accepting new patients as well as following on his established patients. We will be seeing patients in our office instead of the Brachial Plexus Clinic at TCH. We will continue to see patients on Monday afternoons beginning in February. Since the very sad loss of Dr. Laurent and Dr. Lee, Dr. Shenaq is primarily dealing with older children and adults until we can bring new faculty on board. If your child is an infant and needs primary surgery repair, Dr. Shenaq can still evaluate your child. Primary surgery requires a neurosurgeon also in addition to Dr. Shenaq. He will refer you to another center for treatment.

It should be mentioned that Dr. Shenaq passed away this year, as he is mentioned several times in this thread.

We have been seeing the Cincinnati Childrens Bracial Plexus team since 2003, and have had great success! Check them out as well. No matter who you choose, it will be the right decision based on who you are most comfortable with and what YOU feel is best for your family. Good luck, many prayers and blessings.
