Hi I'm Steffany, mom to Mason, 12 weeks old with LOBPI, torticollis, and plagiocephaly (flat, somewhat asymmetrical head because of his tendency to position his head to the right). My husband is Scott, and we live in San Antonio, TX. It's nice to have a forum like this to share info on.

I am new to this site, It has been an absolute god send, too. I am 32 with ROBPI(which was always referred to as erb's palsy or the bad arm) I have learned so much in the past few months about this injury. I have always just played out the hand I was dealt(no pun intended). I was born at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO a whopping 11#6oz and 27 in. long. My mom was in labor three days before they noticed I was stuck in the birth canal and decided to pull me out along with several nurses pushing me out. Needless to say I was a real pain in the butt(as my mom says). I went through at least 2 years of physical therapy. They wanted to do experimental tests on me with no guarantee of improvement. My mother told them I had been through enough. I learned different ways to adapt.
But recently, having chronic pain and neuro. says will have the rest of my life.
I was very suprised to see stories of soooooo many people with this injury. In 32 years of dealing with this I have only seen one person(he was a senior in high school and I was a freshman--never really got to talk with him about his injury but I knew it looked like my affected arm.)

I hope and pray this injury is researched to the point of non existence.
no child should have to go through the pain and social problems linked to this injury.

This thread is at the top of the message board right now due to a "guest" post. The guest post isn't up yet, but thank you for bumping this up, whoever you are. All the previous posts on this thread were there before I found UBPN. I didn't know about this thread until now. Since other adult OBPI people have posted on this thread, I decided to do so, too.

I am Joanie, 57 years old, LOBPI. I found UBPN late last July, when I was 56. Until then, I thought that I would never meet anyone else with this injury. I learned the term "Erb's palsy" when I was 17, and the term "brachial plexus" when I found UBPN. I had tendon transfer surgery to correct a droop wrist when I was in my early 20s.

My husband, John, and I live in Twinsburg, Ohio. Twinsburg is located between Cleveland and Akron, and is the city that has the Twins Days Festival each year, during the first full weekend in August. John and I are both from the Cleveland area and consider ourselves to be Clevelanders.

I'm Shari. My son Jacob is 4 months old. He has a ROBPI. He has a mild injury and is recovering very well. We're as pleased as we can be under the circumstances. I'd be more pleased if this hadn't happened at all obviously, but we are very thankful for the recovery he has made so far.
